Summary
I assembled a 4-bar linkage with supplied CAD models and created a motion study that analyzed the movements of specific points in the crank after a motor and gravity were added to the study.
Motion Characteristics
Maximum torque of motor: 6 lbf/in
Angle of crank for the maximum torque: 160.8 degrees
Maximum vertical force exerted on bearings: 2.8 lbf
Minimum motor power required to move crank at 600 rpm (constant): -599 W
- The negative power is due to gravity and angular momentum aiding the crank in achieving the angular velocity without it needing to be powered on (work is being done on the motor)
